Day-by-Day Itinerary
- 1
Arrival in Casablanca
Airport pickup and a first taste of Morocco: a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, and an evening stroll along the Corniche before dinner.
- 2
Casablanca to Rabat
The drive to Rabat is short (about 90km, ~1 hour), leaving time to explore the Kasbah of the Udayas above the river mouth, the unfinished Hassan Tower, and the Andalusian Gardens before continuing toward Fes.
- 3
Fes Medina & Markets
A guided walk through the souks and spice markets of Fes el Bali, Morocco's largest car-free urban area, with stops at artisan workshops where leather, ceramics, and hand-hammered metalwork are still made using techniques centuries old.
- 4
Fes Home-Cooked Experience
An afternoon with a local family learning to cook everyday Moroccan dishes — tagine, harira soup, and fresh khobz bread — followed by sharing the meal together, a more personal counterpart to the restaurant-focused food tours most visitors get.
- 5
Fes to Merzouga via the Middle Atlas
The drive to Merzouga (around 470km, ~7-8 hours) is the longest of the trip, crossing cedar forests near Azrou where Barbary macaques are often spotted roadside, then descending through the Ziz Valley's palm groves toward the dunes.
- 6
Merzouga Desert Camp
A camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes timed for sunset, followed by a traditional dinner under the stars and Berber music around the campfire at your desert camp for the night.
- 7
Merzouga to Dades Valley via Todra Gorge
A sunrise over the dunes, then the drive toward Dades Valley (about 300km, ~5 hours) via the Rissani market and a walk into Todra Gorge, where limestone walls rise up to 300m above the river.
- 8
Dades Valley to Marrakech via Ouarzazate
The route to Marrakech (around 320km, ~6 hours with stops) passes the fragrant Valley of Roses, the Ouarzazate film studios, and the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, before crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass.
